GLYCERIN is a versatile ingredient commonly used in cosmetics for its multiple functions. It acts as a humectant, which means it helps to attract moisture to the skin and hair, making it beneficial for maintaining hydration. Additionally, it serves as a skin-conditioning agent, enhancing the overall feel and appearance of the skin. As a denaturant, it can modify the properties of other ingredients, while its role as a solvent allows for the effective dissolution of other components in a formulation. Furthermore, GLYCERIN contributes to viscosity control, helping to achieve the desired thickness of a product. Its use in oral care products highlights its broad applicability across different cosmetic categories. Formulators may add GLYCERIN to improve the texture, stability, and moisturizing properties of their formulations.

Sodium Hydroxide is a highly alkaline compound commonly used in cosmetics primarily as a pH adjuster. It helps to modify the acidity or alkalinity of formulations, ensuring that products maintain a stable and effective pH level for skin compatibility. Formulators may add Sodium Hydroxide to enhance the performance of other ingredients, improve product stability, and ensure that the overall formulation meets the desired specifications for safety and efficacy.

PHENOXYETHANOL is recorded as an antimicrobial and preservative. These recorded roles explain why a formulator may include it in a cosmetic formula.

Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane, commonly used in cosmetic formulations for its exfoliating properties. It works by loosening the bonds between dead skin cells, promoting their removal and revealing fresher skin underneath. This ingredient is often included in products aimed at improving skin texture and tone, as well as addressing concerns such as dullness and uneven pigmentation. Formulators may add Glycolic Acid to enhance the effectiveness of a product by providing gentle exfoliation, which can help to improve the overall appearance of the skin.

CITRIC ACID is a multifunctional ingredient commonly used in cosmetics for its buffering, chelating, and fragrance properties. As a buffering agent, it helps to maintain the pH balance of formulations, which is essential for the stability and effectiveness of various cosmetic products. Its chelating function allows it to bind metal ions, which can enhance the overall performance and longevity of the formulation by preventing the degradation of other ingredients. Additionally, CITRIC ACID can contribute to the fragrance profile of a product, adding to the sensory experience of the user. Formulators may include CITRIC ACID to improve product stability and enhance the overall user experience.

ZINC PCA is a cosmetic ingredient known for its functions as a humectant and skin-conditioning agent. As a humectant, it helps to attract and retain moisture in the skin, which can contribute to a more hydrated appearance. The skin-conditioning function indicates that it can improve the overall feel and texture of the skin, making it smoother and more pleasant to the touch. Formulators may add ZINC PCA to products to enhance hydration and improve skin quality, making it a valuable component in various cosmetic formulations.

Potassium Sorbate is a widely used preservative in cosmetics and personal care products. It helps to inhibit the growth of mold, yeast, and bacteria, thereby extending the shelf life of formulations. Formulators often add Potassium Sorbate to ensure the stability and safety of their products, particularly those that contain water, as these are more susceptible to microbial contamination. Its effectiveness and relatively low toxicity make it a popular choice in a variety of cosmetic applications.

SODIUM BENZOATE is a multifunctional ingredient commonly used in cosmetics for its properties as an anticorrosive, fragrance, and preservative. As an anticorrosive, it helps to prevent the degradation of products by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, which is essential for maintaining product integrity and extending shelf life. Additionally, it can serve as a fragrance component, contributing to the overall scent profile of a formulation. Formulators may add SODIUM BENZOATE to ensure that products remain stable and effective over time, while also enhancing the sensory experience for the user.
